Description	The olfactory bulb is located within the vertebrate forebrain, in which it functions to receive nerve endings/input from the nasal cavity. The sense of smell is associated with the nerve tissues of the olfactory bulb. Immortalized Mouse Olfactory Bulb Cells (OBL22) is immortalized with non-replicating retrovirus carrying the avian Myc gene. They express neuronal markers such as neurofilament (NF), A2B5, and HNK-1. The OBL22 cells are found to be non-tumorigenic. It is a valuable in vitro tool for studies relating to the functions and the biology of the olfactory bulb.
Procedure Overview
Propagation	Grow cells in Poly-L-Lysine (TM061)-coated flasks with the following conditions. The base medium for this cell line is Prigrow III medium available from ABM (TM003). To make the completed growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (TM999) to final concentration of 10%, 0.3 mg/ml G418 (G271), and Penicillin/Streptomycin (G255). Atmosphere: air: 95%, CO?: 5%; Temperature: 37.0°C.
Quality Control	Quality Control: 1) Resistance to 0.3 mg/ml G418, 2) Southern or Northern blot analysis of the viral integration site, 3) immunocytochemical analysis for markers
