Description
The ViPrimePLUS Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus RT-qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus genome in bee samples.
Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus (IAPV) is a single stranded RNA virus which kills bees and causes colony collapse disorder. The virus is widespread in the Middle East, Australia, USA and also in Europe. IAPV is transmitted by the mite Varroa destructor that feeds on the bodily fluids of *****, pupal and larval bees. Symptoms of infection include shivering wings, progressing to paralysis, and then death outside of the hive. The phylogenetic analysis reveals 3 distinct lineages of IAPV circulating the world, i.e.; 1) group 1 which represents western USA and Australia samples, 2) group 2 which represents Israel samples and 3) group 3 which represents eastern USA and Canada samples. Appearance of IAPV-resistant bees is the product of incorporation of the viral genes into the bee genome mechanism.
ViPrimePLUS Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus RT-qPCR Kit is intended for research use only.
